STRING ENSEMBLE WORKSHOP FOR ALL STRING PARTICIPANTS (NEW!)
All solo string performers will be required to participate in the String Ensemble Workshop on June 14th & 15th, 2025. Please reserve both dates for the exciting experience.
To help facilitate the grouping of participants, participants are required to submit their video recording of the String Ensemble Workshop excerpts during their application:

Step 1: Video Recording of Orchestra Excerpts:
There will be a total of three excerpts of varying difficulties for each instrument (Violin, Viola, Cello, Double Bass). Refer to Step 2.

Step 2: Choose 3 Excerpts from the EXCERPT LIST
All applicants will be required to play excerpt A. If an applicant would like to showcase more of their playing, they may choose to play excerpt B and C in addition to excerpt A.
If an applicant chooses to play excerpts B and C, all three recordings (A, B and C) must be recorded in one continuous video take. Editing of any kind is not permitted. Use of metronome may be required in some excerpts during the recording. Exact metronome markings will be given.

Step 3: Submit your video
- Please ensure that the applicant’s face and arms are clearly seen in the video recording.
- The video is to be recorded in one continuous take without any kind of editing. Editing of any kind may result in the applicant’s disqualification.
- Upload the applicant’s video as “unlisted” on YouTube. Ensure that the YouTube link is in working order before copying the link into your application form.

You should learn the excerpts in as great detail as possible and record it to the best of your ability. Your playing does not have to be perfect, as the recording is intended for the tutors to have a better understanding of your ensemble skills. This is to enable us to give you the best experience when you come together as an ensemble.
Following the bowings and all marked articulations shows that you are aware of the details in the score. Please follow them as best as you can.

Excerpts marked “METRONOME USE” are required to be played with the metronome. The metronome will need to be heard in the background as you are playing your excerpt. You may use your phone or video camera to record the excerpts. It does not need to be professionally recorded. Please follow the guidelines indicated in the registration form. A tutorial video is provided for you to follow as an example. https://youtu.be/sq7dkezKmTY
